Shortcut support depends on your desktop and Wayland portal. Native Linux workflows have not yet been verified.
Getting started on Windows or Linux
- Run the installer. On Linux, install the Debian package or allow the AppImage to run as a program in its file properties.
- Download Verba’s local speech model in Settings, about 148 MB, and allow microphone access.
- Use Start recording or Ctrl+Shift+Space. Stop when finished, then paste the copied text with Ctrl+V.
- For rewriting, install the official Codex CLI and connect ChatGPT in Settings, or add your own OpenAI API key.
- Sign in to Verba to restore Pro. Raw dictation stays free.
What the preview includes
Windows and Linux include Raw, Polish, Translate and Prompt modes, local history, copy and export. Your audio is transcribed locally. Codex and OpenAI rewriting send text to OpenAI using your account.
JARVIS, connected apps, cloud sync, widgets, automatic paste and background updates are not in this preview. Download and install a newer package here to update. The Windows/Linux preview does not change the Mac update channel.
